She's growing and changing. She is beginning to coo and smile. What fun it is for us!
Mother's Day
I know we have been slow here and are a few days behind. Maya has been ruling the house, so it is hard to get much done. She is awake a lot more during the day now. She smiles sometimes and is getting better at focusing on your face. She is much happier now that she is eating more and having more cuddle time. I am, too. Last Friday she weighed 7lb. 10oz. with her diaper on. I will go again next Friday to have her weight checked again. We have been going for a short walk every day, up and down the street. She enjoys the motion and I am glad it has not gotten too hot here yet.
Success
Today at the doctor Maya was back to her birth weight, so the doctor said to keep up what we were doing. That feels good! It seems like all I've been doing is feeding her, but it has paid off. Her belly button stump is getting very close to falling off. I can't wait to give her a real bath.
Mommy's thoughts
We are slowly adjusting to our new schedule. Our world is revolving around this baby right now. We are trying to get her to gain weight, so that is a full-time job. We take her Wednesday morning to get her weight checked and see if we are doing better. Nana Pasho has been very busy doing several projects to decorate the nursery as well as keeping the piles of laundry at bay. She flies home to AZ on May 6th and I know I will miss her a lot. Then the true test of my mothering skills will begin, since I will be home all day without an extra set of hands. Tomorrow evening we go to have professional photos taken. Our session is only 20 minutes, so I am praying she is in a good mood and the photographer works quickly to capture everything I want. We'll see. I am guessing it won't be easy.
