Well, it is beginning to feel like normal at home. We have had a nice weekend, complete with a visit from Grandma to play with Maya, bring lunch and cuddle Nico. Nico has been wide awake more the last couple of days and sleeping a little better at night. I am losing a bit of the fuzzy brain. Maya just loves being able to give Nico some attention and pat his head! She has been a happy girl and enjoyed a trip to the park yesterday afternoon with both Quinton and myself. It was a beautiful sunny day. Nico was cozy in a sling that I got to wear.
Tomorrow afternoon is his ultrasound on his brain at Texas Children's Hospital and an appointment with the neurosurgeon. Then we have a check-up with the pediatrician Tuesday morning and Early Childhood Intervention's initial assessment in our home on Tuesday afternoon. It will be a busy couple of days. We will keep you posted on his test results.
This morning was Nico's first visit with a "normal" pediatrician near our house. He weighed 6 lbs 11 oz. I will take him back to see her on Tuesday morning to make sure he is gaining weight and continuing to do well.
Maya ate a big bowl of spaghetti for lunch today, which is quite an accomplishment for our little picky eater! I brought home a sparkly Strawberry Shortcake sticker for her from the doctor's office. She was impressed.
Maya is enjoying the big sister role so far. She wants to be like Mommy, so she went and found her babydoll and got it a blanket to wrap it up like Nico. Then she asked where a hat was for her baby. She likes to watch Nico and pat his head and chest. She has been gentle and sweet!
Nico's ultrasound showed that his 2 lateral ventricles have decreased slightly, which is good. I have now made his first appointment with our pediatrician for Thursday morning which means he will be home before then. He will still have appointments at Texas Children's for an ultrasound and with the neurologist next week and with hematology later. I am excited!
